49ers Foundation Event with Guy McIntyre

While Colin Kaepernick is leading the San Francisco 49ers to glory on any given Sunday and the team is basking in the spotlight as NFL superstars, a group of unsung heroes work behind the scenes to ensure that the Bay Area's most vulnerable residents don't slip through the cracks. The 49ers Foundation, a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization that supports an array of programs in the Silicon Valley and Bay Area, focuses its efforts on "Keeping kids safe, on track and in school." The 49ers Academy, Santa Clara Schools Foundation, Silicon Valley Education Foundation, Family Violence Prevention Fund and Bay Area Women's Sports Initiative are just a few of the many groups that benefit from the Foundation's work. On October 3, Mezlan partnered with the 49ers Foundation in hosting an in-store fundraiser aimed at boosting donations supporting the organization's many endeavors, and with sales proceeds benefiting the Foundation. 3-time Super Bowl Champion and 5-time Pro Bowl Offensive Lineman Guy McIntyre was the star of the event, signing autographs and taking pictures with fans. McIntyre has been very active in the 49ers Foundation, appearing at many events, including the highly successful 2013 Winter Fest, which generated $2 million for the organization over the course of a single weekend. Joanne Pasternack, Executive Director, 49ers Foundation, and Director of Community Relations for the San Francisco 49ers, coordinated and participated in the event for the Foundation. Larry Bonner, manager of the Mezlan San Jose store in the Westfield Valley Fair Mall where the fundraiser was held, co-hosted the event. The Mezlan San Jose store is aptly located a few miles from the nearly completed Levi's Stadium in Santa Clara, which will become the new home of the 49ers starting with the 2014 season. The $1.3 billion, 68,500-seat stadium will also play host to Super Bowl L in 2016.

CONTENT Magazine set up a Red Carpet Photo Shoot to capture the event, its special guests and attendees. Daniel Garcia handled the photography and was representing the magazine. Bert George, CEO of Joseph George Fine Wines, ensured there was a sampling of California's finest wine varieties for attendees to enjoy. In addition to the relationships they maintain with the owners of some of the state's most prestigious wineries, the George family operates a vineyard in Yountville, growing Sauvignon Blanc grapes in the heart of Napa Valley. The family's generosity in sharing the fruit of their craft added a considerable boost to the appeal and turnout of the event. Brian Adams, Vice President at Bellarmine College Preparatory, made a special appearance. His son Nicholas founded NINICO Communications, which was the primary organizer and the PR agency behind the event. Beverly Zeiss, founder of Red Haute & Co., was also on hand to help boost the visibility of the event and the Foundation's charitable cause. Zeiss has acted as Public Relations and Fashion Director for brands such as Saks Fifth Avenue, Tiffany & Co., Cartier, Salvatore Ferragamo, Nina Ricci, Gianni Versace, Alfred Dunhill, and Baracci. Co-sponsored by CONTENT Magazine and Joseph George Fine Wines, the event saw an impressive turnout in support of providing Northern California youths with viable alternatives to engaging in and being subjected to negative behaviors.
